Bobblehead Sports:

Well, well, well, is a seemingly deep subject, so when we have a new male boy being born into the Mimi and Papi grandkid group of now 8 grands that I may discuss some , or quite a bit, in the BLOG‼️ Don’t get me wrong we love the granddaughters (numbering 5) between 3 and 9 years old! Any night could be a Barbie and Swifty party with a sleepover at the candy-filled, Mimi  and Papi's home‼️ My youngest son Bryson and his better half Lena are having their first child and he will be born in mid πŸ”₯ August! Hot! The newly unnamed third boy behind 11 year old Gus and 3 -year-old Monty will have lots of mommy cousins to help babysit over the years!

         Great Uncle Jeff RIP

πŸ€This is referee Roger Ayers! This dude is a big time stud because he pretended to clean up a water spot on the floor at the very end of the Oregon vs Liberty game (Oregon was up 30) so Liberty bench player J.C. Shirer Jr. could see the floor in an NCAA Tournament game πŸ₯Ί

Cardinals

A super friend since my college years, he is like a brother from another mother and a die-hard Cardinal baseball fan, sent me the best spring training analysis yet:

(even better than TMZ Sports)

I was at yesterday’s game, the final home game of the spring.  I attended eight games this spring including a trip to Bradenton FL home of the Pirates.  This photo is of Nolan Gorman at bat.

Here are my observations:

Burleson - awesome spring.  Led the team in hitting

Gorman - respectable spring bringing in an average around .275.  Two or three homers

JJ Wetherholt - good spring.  Earned starting second base job.

Other standouts:

Nathan Church - young guy.  Good power   He might start in left since Sagessee has been gone to Team Italy in WBC

Nelson Velasquez - big bat. Marginal fielder

Packy Naughton - probably earned bullpen spot

Disappointments:

Jordan Walker - Still can’t hit. Batting well below .200.  No extra base hits this spring. Needs to be sent down or traded

Scott III - Very good speed but can’t hit consistently.  (I miss Bader!)

Pitching

Liberatore - strong spring

Leahy - good spring outings

Dustin May (new guy, throws 99mph) - wild but great potential

At this point, hopefully a .500 rebuild season

That’s all from sunny south Florida

Cheers!

Cubs

11-17-5

Pretty below-average spring training record for th Cubby wubbies but they are ready for the regular season to start quickly! The Cubs did lead the Cactus League in Ties‼️‼️

Royals

Can he do this for the Royals?

Kansas City Royals third baseman Maikel Garcia couldn’t have written a better script to begin his 2026 campaign. After a breakout campaign las season he rolled back into Royals spring camp as a newly minted champion! Earlier this week, Garcia helped his home country Venezuela win its first World Baseball Classic title!

And he arrived with one more piece of hardware. Garcia earned MVP honors for the 2026 World Baseball Classic‼️

Dodgers

The Tulsa Ranch Dippers‼️

The Dodgers' Double-A affiliate is the Tulsa Drillers, but for four games this season they are planning to be the Tulsa Ranch Dippers. What???

Love the color coordinated cap that matches the pizza served at Driller Stadium concessions‼️

Brewers

Kyle Harrison

Lefty Starter Harrison

is working on a new pitch, which is the modern-day best shape of his life‼️ Sometimes those new pitches don't amount to much and they go on the shelf once the regular season begins, like Paul Skenes' cutter last spring! Sometimes they stick and change a player's outlook. JesΓΊs Luzardo picked up a sweeper last spring and it fueled his breakout season.

Still only 24, Harrison went from the Giants :to the Red Sox in the Rafael Devers trade last summer, and from the Red Sox to the Brewers in the Caleb Dean trade last month. He has a solid enough 4.39 ERA in 194 ⅔ MLB innings, though the big strikeout numbers he posted in the minors have dried up. Harrison's career 10.0% swinging strike rate is below the 11.0% league average‼️

Have a great sports week!
